Happy New Year! It’s January which means a month of new beginnings, new memories, and cold weather! Whether you enjoy the cold weather or not, the one thing I know we all don’t enjoy is the dry skin that comes with this temperature change. It can be so difficult to keep your skin hydrated throughout the day which is why I have rounded up 5 DIY face mask recipes that you can use in the morning or at night that will make it easier to beat Winter dry skin.
Egg White Mask
What You’ll Need
- 1 egg
Instructions
Crack and separate the yolk and egg whites of one egg. Beat the egg whites with a fork. Smooth the egg white all over your face, let it sit for 30 minutes, and then rinse with warm water.
Benefits
This mask will refresh and tighten your oily skin and will make it look much healthier than before. For the winter, it will create a natural barrier to protect your skin from harsh winds and frost.
Strawberry Lemon Mask
What You’ll Need
- 1 cup of strawberries
- 2 tbsp. of lemon juice
- 1 tbsp. of honey
Instructions
Put all the ingredients into a blender and blend until it’s a smooth paste. Apply the paste onto your face and leave it on for 20 minutes before washing it off.
Benefits
This mask is great for those who suffer from redness in the cold winter weather! Strawberries also contain salicylic acid which helps prevent your skin from breaking out!
Milk And Honey Mask
What You’ll Need
- 5 – 6 tbsp. of milk
- 2 tbsp. of honey
Instructions
Mix together the milk and honey into a paste. Apply it on your face and neck and massage for five minutes. Then leave it on your face for 20 minutes before washing it off with lukewarm water.
Benefits
The mask will moisturize your skin and is the easiest way to treat dry and rough skin during the winter season!
Papaya Mask
What You’ll Need
- One ripe papaya
- 1 tsp. of olive oil
Instructions
Mash up the papaya and mix it with the olive oil. Apply it on your face and leave it for 15 minutes before rinsing it off!
Benefits
This mask is a good way to moisturize your skin! The pulp of the ripe papaya fruit provides hydration and nutrition to the skin. It also contains Vitamin A and Papain enzyme which helps remove dead skin cells making it smoother!
Chocolate Mask
What You’ll Need
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tbsp. plain yogurt
- 3 tsp. oats
Instructions
Put all the ingredients into a blender and blend until it’s smooth. Apply it on your face for 15-20 minutes and then rinse off!
Benefits
Cocoa powder is packed with antioxidants which helps repair skin cells. Cocoa powder has a gentle exfoliating texture that helps slough off dead cells on skin which is good for those with sensitive or acne prone skin. The caffeine and theobromine found in cocoa powder makes skin firm, taut, and toned!
Which one of these face masks will you use to beat Winter skin? Let me know below!

These are some great DIY face masks. I have tried using egg before but I couldn’t bare the texture on my face! haha! My favourite is a turmeric face mask, which is great for boosting the radiance in your skin. The chocolate mask sounds great, I will definitely have to give that one a go!
